Fire alarm and low-voltage coordination on shared jobs
How low voltage contractors coordinate fire alarm interfaces with CCTV and access control without scope collisions.
By Linki Security
On many builds the low voltage contractor owns cameras and access while a fire contractor owns detection and notification. Collisions happen at the interfaces.
Common interface points
- Door maglocks released on fire alarm
- Elevator recall / lobby door free egress
- Shared risers and pathway ownership
- Sequence-of-operation documents the AHJ expects
Quote hygiene
- Name who provides the fire relay / dry contact
- Name who programs the access panel reaction
- Exclude fire detection devices unless you are licensed and contracted for them
Why this belongs in a security company playbook
Blurry scopes kill margins. Clear exclusions keep the CCTV installer and access team focused — and keep the fire partner as an ally, not a surprise change order.
Capture those exclusions as note lines in Linki so every PDF says the same thing.
